While not the ritz Carlton it is a rustic older home with a phenomenal owner who is very accommodating. There is secure parking which is fantastic and right in town so you don't have to worry about parking or paying to park. Not even a 1/2 mile walk to the center of town, just a few blocks from the green and a few businesses down from the station and across from upstate films. There isnt tv but it's a nice break to be honest and gives you time to unplug and enjoy your Woodstock experience. It is great for the price and you are taken care of. I would choose it over a chain hotel any day. Supporting this local business in the small town was a great decision.
We stayed in the cottage, and I found it to be warm and inviting. The host was just a wonderful warm human being. She made us feel very welcome. She is very accommodating and we shall return. I loved the fact that I could walk to town very easily
Two of us stayed at Dove House for two nights last weekend. The place is charming, with a loft bedroom upstairs and a fold-out futon downstairs. Both were comfortable. We loved the "tiny house" feel, the small deck overlooking the brook, and the minimalist kitchen, where we made coffee and cocktails. I'd like to suggest a couple of upgrades. First, the futon sofa was covered in two bath towels. A simple cotton tapestry would have been more appealing, or a new futon cover that did not need to be hidden. The cafe table was covered with a stained cloth, a simple fix with attention to detail. The breakfast was lovely and it was wonderful to be able to walk into town. All in all a pleasant stay!
In March, I was looking for a place to stay for dental surgery, and I was driving quite a distance so I wanted a place close by the dentist. The room views looked quaint and comfortable, and it had a nice "feel" to it. Also, the Morning Glory is located in the village, so minutes walk to great shops, and local Woodstock atmosphere. So, quaint, lovely, clean rooms, a warm atmosphere, decent prices, a serene and artistic feel, should be enough right? The one added ingredient is the hostess. She's amazingly warm and friendly, and went out of her way to look after my needs, especially after surgery when I was a complete mess. I cannot say enough good things because it is the "package" that makes a B&B complete and she completes the perfect pacakge.. I would strongly recommend this B&B to anyone.
My daughter and I had the pleasure of staying at the Dove House, Morning Glory's vacation cottage, in July 2015 for 2 nights. It was charming, comfortable and peaceful, with a deck overlooking a picturesque brook behind the cottage. It even has its own small kitchen so you can cook your own meals if you like. The upstairs loft bed was comfortable. Morning Glory's owner, Panxi Xu, is super friendly and a delightful person. We will definitely be staying here again next time we visit Woodstock New York. Highly recommend for travelers seeking simple, comfortable and affordable accommodations in Woodstock New York. If you are looking for a luxury upscale B&B with all the bells and whistles, this is not the place for you .. but if you are looking for a comfortable and cozy place to stay with a friendly and welcoming hostess, you will be happy here.
